A second beer maker has withdrawn its sponsorship of a St. Patrick’s Day parade because of its refusal to allow gay and lesbians to march openly. Heineken said it would’t participate in New York’s upcoming St. Patrick’s Day celebration; “We believe in equality for all. We are no longer a sponsor of Monday’s parade.” Boston Beer, the parent company of Sam Adams, pulled out of Boston’s St. Patrick’s Day parade yesterday after a popular Boston bar said it would stop selling its products, “until such time as either the Parade organizers change their position, or Sam Adams removes its support of the St. Patrick Day Parade.” I gotta say I’m happy all around – besides Amstel Light & Corona, those are two of my favorite beers and I’ll remember this the next time I order one. Salut! (via CNBC)
