After over three decades, giving fashion looks on the streets of NYC, The Dandy of New York Patrick McDonald is saying farewell! One of the most photographed persons by New York Times columnist Bill Cunningham, fashion writer and talking head Patrick McDonald is and always will be the epitome of New York style. And as anyone who has lived in NYC knows, the city is always changing, from your fave clubs, to your local bodegas, Gotham is always on the move. And when an icon like McDonald leaves, you can’t help but feel that it’s the end of an era. “I need to have new creative surroundings, says McDonald. NYC has become s city for the ‘One percent’ and I just don’t fit in anymore. It’s time for a new adventure.” Patrick’s entrée into fashion started in the late 70′s in Manhattan, hanging out at the legendary night club Studio 54. Here he met the now infamous drag superstar Joey Arias, who at the time worked at the uber cool boutique Fiorucci…they became friends…and Patrick too started working at the store. Years later, he would work for designer Fabrice and would write columns for his magazine Arude. Fabrice featured him once in the Style File section of the mag and called him a “Dandy”. From then on, McDonald co-opted the look, and has sat in the front row of New York fashion Week shows ever since!
