A slew of rock n’ roll royalty descended upon John Varvatos’ first European store, located on Conduit Street in London. Check ‘em out after the jump.

Iggy Pop attends the launch of the first John Varvatos store in London. All things considered, I think he looks pretty dapper. Chic, even.

Jimmy Page and Ringo Starr arrive. Funny that poor Iggy gets chopped out of the pic once the REAL heavyweights get there.

Dan Stevens. Oh, Dan Stevens. I’ll say it again: He never should have left Downton Abbey, and he never should have ditched the blond hair.

I would love to Adam Ant NOT do his cut-rate Johnn Depp schtick JUST ONCE.

Helen Mirren wasn’t there. She was walking the red carpet at The Hundred Foot Journey screening at the Curzon Mayfair in London. I just wanted to compare and contrast this pic with the pic of Iggy. Funny to think that Helen is two years older than him.

Via Fashion Times:

“I wanted it to be very much a sense of who we are – very eclectic; it’s like coming into your home….I call it casually elegant.”

The store houses all of Varvatos’ lines, including the John Varvatos Collection, John Varvatos Star USA and Converse by John Varvatos. It also carries the brand’s fragrances, eyewear, jewelry and watches. There are also a number of products that are exclusive to the London store, such as limited-edition leather jackets, shoes, jewelry and tailored designs.

“The great thing I love about London too is people understand textural fabrics and tweeds – in the States, [customers] don’t really get it that much. [The London store] allows us to do a lot of the things that are really in our DNA and soul,” Varvatos told WWD.

In addition to clothing and accessories, the store features customized Fender guitars, framed pictures of musicians like of The Beatles, Marc Bolan and The Rolling Stones and one-off pieces of furniture.

When selecting the location for this new store, Varvatos said he was looking for an area that is appealing to the mix of customers his label attracts. Vivienne Westwood, Dior and Jimmy Choo all have stores nearby the space Varvatos chose.

“We didn’t want to be on Bond Street, even though it’s a beautiful street, as that kind of [customer] mix wouldn’t have happened. And if we just went to [East London's] Shoreditch or something we wouldn’t get the other…customers,” he said.

Eventually, Varvatos wants to open another London store, as well as other spaces throughout Europe.
