Well, the expression “hits close to home” has never hit closer to home. Literally. I have a place in upstate New York and the closest town nearby, that anyone might have heard of, is Liberty. Comedian David Cross, of Arrested Development fame, has written and directed his first film, that premiered last year at Sundance, called Hits and it is set in the funky little town. Maybe it’s not that unique to America, but it’s VERY specific and familiar.
Veep star Matt Walsh stars as a father and frustrated citizen who accidentally becomes YouTube-famous, much to the chagrin of his fame-whore daughter, played by Meredith Hagner.
It also stars James Adomian, Drunk History creator Derek Waters, Amy Sedaris, Wyatt Cenac, Michael Cera and more. No release date set yet, but OMG, I’m so in. (I’d see it for Sedaris alone!) The trailer just premiered yesterday. Watch.
