Tiffany & Co.‘s new ad campaign featuring two men is great on its own but the casting decision to use a real couple makes it all the more special. These guys aren’t models, although they could be — they’re a real gay couple living in NYC, but their names haven’t been released yet. Last month, the Fifth Avenue flagship store’s holiday windows also featured a gay couple, which I clocked and shot on my rounds. More and more states are coming to recognize (and legalize same-sex marriage) and more advertisers are realizing this audience is underserved. This one ad is not a HUGE deal, but every little instance where marriage equality is treated as “no big deal” is a victory, in my book.
And speaking of gay weddings, check out the pics of the “Rustic Black Tie Wedding” at Randy Florke (left) and Congressman Sean Maloney house this summer in The Knot magazine. Talk about picture perfect. I would say that they aren’t models either but I think Randy used to be one. Go here for more pictures.
