Articles in HuffPost, Queerty, and NewNowNext affirm what we’ve been telling you for the past week: RuPaul’s Drag Con is going be the MOST AMAZING DRAG EXTRAVAGANZA EVER MOUNTED! Drag queens! Drag panels! Drag performances! Drag workshops! And lots and lots of drag-related shopping!
Says Queerty:
Have you ever felt like maybe there’s a queen diva trapped inside you just waiting for the right shade of lipstick to burst out into the world and start lip syncing for her life?
Well you are in luck. RuPaul and a list of queens longer than Divine’s eyebrows are converging for the first ever (yes, the first ever in herstory) “Drag Con” in Los Angeles in May, and shit’s gonna get real.
Here’s a taste of what you can expect:
- “Everything You Wanted to Know about Tucking but Were Afraid to Ask,”
- “Lady MacBeth to Lady Gaga: Drag in the Mainstream”
- “Drag King Makeovers”
- “A Drag Revolution: Stonewall Riots”
- “Padding 101: Dude, Where’s My Mattress?”
- “Weaves, Waffles, and Wig Water”
And here’s that full list of of participating queens: RuPaul, Lady Bunny, Michelle Visage, Big Freedia, Coco Peru, James St. James (that’s ME!), Peaches Christ, Chi Chi LaRue, Hot Chocolate, and Courtney Stodden, as well as the crowned queens from RuPaul’s Drag Race, Bianca del Rio, Jinkx Monsoon, Chad Michaels, Sharon Needles, Raja, Tyra Sanchez, and Bebe Zahara Benet. Plus, more Drag Race royalty including Jujubee, Alyssa Edwards, Latrice Royale, Detox, Willam, Ivy Winters, Katya, Morgan McMichaels, Kandy Ho, Jade Sotomayor, Trinity K. Bonet, Alisa Summers,Victoria “Porkchop” Parker, Darienne Lake, Tatiana, Laganja Estranja, Mariah Balenciaga,Jasmine Masters, Sasha Belle, Shannel, Jiggly Caliente, Yara Sofia, Kelly Mantle, Mystique Summers Madison, Jessica Wild, Mimi Imfurst, Honey Mahogany, Venus D Lite, Stacy Layne Mathews, Tempest Du Jour, Gia Gunn, Joslyn Fox, Mrs. Kasha Davis, Tammie Brown, Jade Jolie, and Ongina.
Which is A LOT of tucking under one roof, as Queerty reminds us.
