True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto wrote all eight episodes of this second season, which is set in L.A. this time around. Colin Farrell plays detective Ray Velcoro, alongside Taylor Kitsch, who plays a California Highway Patrolman. Vince Vaughn is slated to portray a criminal caught in the middle, as the officers entangle themselves in a very tense murder investigation.
“Sometimes your worst self is your best self.”
…says Vince Vaughn at the start of this new, minute-long trailer. The rest of the clip shows him with a crew investigating what looks like an apartment complex for reasons that have yet to be revealed, and a close-up on Colin Farrell’s bloody knuckles, as a voiceover says:
“My strong suspicion is we got the world we deserve.”
Rachel McAdams in particular says she’s excited to play such a gritty role, as a Ventura County Sheriff. She recently told Marie Claire:
“She doesn’t really care what everyone thinks; she feels no responsibility for other people’s feelings. She’s not trying to be charming, which isn’t always the case with a leading lady…. Not that you want to be a horrendous character, just a little more human.”
Watch.
