We’ve got Kristen Wiig here on the Boston set of the Ghostbusters reboot, dressed in a frumpy little ladysuit, and I’m already loving it. In the second set of pics Melissa McCarthy (carrying a ghost trapper) and Kate McKinnon (in slime-spattered overalls) race through the streets, on their way to save the day.
Here’s what we know about the plot so far (via The Boston Herald):
Wiig and McCarthy play a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. Flash forward a few years and Wiig lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia U. (Like the original, the story takes place in New York City, even though it’s being shot in Boston.) Which is pretty sweet, until her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia.
Wiig reunites with McCarthy and the other two proton pack-packing phantom wranglers, and she gets some sweet revenge when ghosts invade Manhattan and she and her team have to save the world.
And then there are THESE tidbits from Hollywood Life:
In a surprising twist, Avengers star Chris Hemsworth was cast as the receptionist. We can’t even deal right now. Chris originally passed on a role in the film, but after his role was beefed up, he accepted the offer, according to our sister site Variety.
There’s also this scoop: Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd could possibly make a cameo in the new film. “They are negotiating,” a source told the Boston Herald. “But, of course, no one can get ahold of Murray.”
I’M SO EXCITED!
