QwerrrkOut is where LGBTQQIA kiddies and their friends can upload photos of themselves queering out and being their authentic selves on the street, in the club, in the boudoir; wherever and however they feel cutest! QwerrrkOut offers gays, lesbians and other queer identified individuals a unique platform to make the world GASP by boldly displaying Gay Anarchy and Sex Positivity.
“Somewhere, during the trajectory of the gay rights movement, queers learned how to hide in public,” proclaims Paisley Dalton, the longtime World of Wonder writer who created QwerrrkOut. “We learned how to pass. Appearing gay became a negative. The whole ‘No fems, masc only, no Blacks, no Asians’ ideology fueled our internalized homophobia. It’s time we queens got back to celebrating our individual fabulousness. There’s too much beige Hollister and Abercrombie bullshit going ‘round! It’s about showing our strength in numbers on a platform where individuality is celebrated,” continues Dalton. He drew inspiration for QwerrrkOut from the politics and anarchy of the 80s gay advocacy group ACT UP. “To make real change, we have to start with ourselves. We need to take a deep, long look at who we are, smile, take pride, and then QwerrrkOut!”
Here’s how QwerrrkOut works: queers post their photos on QwerrrkOut’s Facebook, including their Instagram handle and a caption. QwerrrkOut will then repost the image on its Instagram, including the poster’s Instagram handle so people can follow the poster’s page too. Additionally, if poster’s include the Qwerrrkout hashtag on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook, the QwerrrkOut team will repost the photo to QwerrrkOut’s Instagram page.
Let’s have some fun and show the world how we QwerrrkOut!
