The upcoming gay-rights biopic, Freeheld, stars Julianne Moore as Laurel Hester, as a New Jersey police lieutenant who fought for the right to leave her pension benefits to her girlfriend (Ellen Page) after Hester was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. Miley Cyrus recently came out as both gender-fluid and pansexual, and started her Happy Hippie Foundation to aid young LGBTQ youth. The song, which was just released was written by Linda Perry, has Cyrus sounding in full voice. So, you may just be hearing an LGBT acceptance speech for Best Song at the Oscars next year. Listen.
Hands Of Love
When the white flag sails, covered in streaks of light
There’ll be an endless sea, of us rising up
And the preacher man, and the preacher’s son
Stand on and on, just like everyoneMe longing to be free, I’ll let you fade away
We shed some many dreams, don’t let them fade awayIn the hands of love, we carry home
Stronger than we started
We’re ashamed of the trail behind us
Weakest is the blinded
Who we are comes alive, yeah
Who we are comes to lifeWhen the water spills, the glass will break
It drips like tears, rubbing up your face
And the hands will crawl, for the dance of war
But the saints of joy, their bickering will soarMe longing to be free, I’ll let you fade away
We shed some many dreams, don’t let them fade awayIn the hands of love, we carry home
Stronger than we started
We’re ashamed of the trail behind us
Weakest is the blinded
Who we are comes alive, yeah
Who we are comes to lifeMe longing to be free, I’ll let you fade away
In the hands of love, we carry home
Stronger that we started
We’re ashamed of the trail behind us
Weakest is the blinded
Who we are comes alive, yeah
Who we are comes to lifeWe come alive
We come alive
Come alive
We come alive
