Yes, your prayers have been answered, Kardashian & Jenner haters. A new app is about to be introduced that’s specifically designed for the folks that are tired of hearing about the daily news of Kylie and Kendall Jenner, or the latest Kardashian drama.
British viral marketer James Shamsi, 21, announced the app, called #KardBlock. He told The Daily Beast that he created the app, which filters any mention of Kim, Kanye, Kris, Kendall, Khloe, Kourtney & Kylie from the user’s news feed,
“Basically, what was happening was that there were Kardashians everywhere, and I wanted to do something about that. But for me, when I follow pages, I am not doing it to get a constant stream of updates on the Kardashians.
I am interested in deeper issues. But every platform seems interested in Kardashian news to the point that everything else gets crushed.
The concept here is to replace Kardashian links with ones to charitable causes of all kind. But our ultimate goal is even bigger than just that. We are looking to disrupt the entire digital advertising space. We want to replace all advertising with donation links and important news widgets.”
Shamsi claims that #KardBlock has 20,000 subscribers already, eager to banish the Kardashian Klan from their news feeds.
“We want to build a customization feature as well, one that will let you get rid of Kardashian news, Bieber news, as well as advertisements.
We are not charging for this. We’ve set up a donation page, but we’re sending those donations straight to charity. This is all about making a change that will potentially impact the lives of a lot of people.”
Shamsi has received harsh criticism —and even threatening phone calls— from Kardashian fans over his app, but some Twitter users seemed to LOVE the idea of a Kardashian-free Internet. Taylor Olson wrote,
“#Kardblock is the best thing I have seen a while. Making the internet a better place one less Kardashian post at a time!”
Well, if you ask me the lady (or gentleman) doth protest too much. People say they hate them and then they click on stories and watch Keeping Up. I can think of a LOT worse things that the Jenners or the Kardashians that I’d like to see disappear from my news feed (Donald Trump‘s POTUS campaign, the eternal conflicts in the middle east, to name two) but to each his own.
