The Two Movie Trailers You NEED to See: Frank and About Alex

Frank stars Michael Fassbender as the enigmatic mask-wearing lead singer of an art-rock band. You never see his face, but then he’s such a brilliant actor YOU DON’T EVEN NEED TO. His voice conveys all the subtle nuance to make this character ONE FOR THE AGES. If you haven’t seen the trailer, DROP EVERYTHING and watch it now. It’s really something.

About Alex is The Big Chill for millennials. Period. You’ve got all the young it-actors (Aubrey Plaza, Jason Ritter, Max Greenfield, Jane Levy…) as college friends reuniting for a three-day weekend after one of them attempts to commit suicide. As the movie progresses, old crushes are reignited, old resentments come to the surface, and painful memories are yada yada yada. It’s a “searing look at the changing nature of adult friendships.” I might have aged myself out of this movie because, frankly, the idea of a bunch of 20-somethings mourning their lost youth sounds annoying as fuck. But it might speak to you, I don’t know. You ought to have an opinion about it either way, so watch the trailer below. (On a side note: Sort of feel like this was written a loooong time ago and took forever to get to the screen because, really, how many millennials sit around and parse Bruce Springsteen albums any more?)
