Gay Icon, Gay Hero, actor and activist George Takei punked us all on that Internet thing late last night with a claim that he was going to run for the US Congress, challenging Fascist Collaborator Devin Nunes in 2018. Just hours after Tweeting, Takei came clean that it was all a joke for April Fool’s Day.
Nunes is, of course, the House Intelligence Committee Chairman looking into the Russian’s influence into our 2016 election and the White House ties to Putin. He is also the world’s most boring looking person. Nunes has represented California’s 21st District from 2003 to 2013, which includes the San Joaquin Valley and eastern Fresno County. Takei and his husband, Brad Altman, live in Los Angeles.
Takei wrote on Twitter:
“Well, the cat’s out of the bag it seems. Let’s do this! #Takei2018 (@GeorgeTakei)”
A link to an interview where he stated that he and his partner were moving to Nunes’ district so he could challenge him for his seat in Congress.
In the interview in the link, he ways:
“Well, I guess the jig is up! With what is going on now in the country, I couldn’t stand by any longer merely as a citizen. I knew I had to take a bigger stand. So that’s why I’m running for Congress. My hope is to challenge Nunes for his seat in 2018.”
Later, Takei admitted it was all in fun, Tweeting:
“No, I’m not running for Congress. Happy 4/1!”But Jon Ossoff is on 4/18. Help him win. Let’s flip Congress in ’18!” (@GeorgeTakei) April 1, 2017
Jon Ossoff is Thomas Jonathan Ossoff, a LGBTQ-friendly, Resistance leading, 30-year-old investigative filmmaker, former congressional aide, who is running in a special election to represent Georgia’s 6th congressional district, replacing Tom Price, the man that POTUS picked as Secretary Of Health and Human Services, or as I call him: That Guy That Is Trying To Kill Me.
