SNL started out with a moving and simple message, delivered by cast-member Cecily Strong, from New York to Paris. After that it was back to the funny with host Elizabeth Banks. The musical guest Disclosure, which is Guy and Howard Lawrence, took their showcase opportunity to perform alongside two artists that appear on the duo’s new LP: Sam Smith and Lorde. The duo let go with Magnets, with Lorde singing her Caracal feature live for the first time. (The stage and SNL’s logo featured the “blue, white and red” of the French flag.) Sam Smith did an elctrifying performance of Omen, the follow-up collaboration to their joint star-making single Latch. Oh-Men. I think this is my new fave song. (Sam Smith is the new George Michael!) Watch.
