Jared Fogle‘s attorneys made a last ditch effort to minimize his prison sentence by suggesting his famous weight loss led to a compulsion for sex with minors. A sexual behavior expert took the stand today to testify that Fogle had a compulsive eating disorder, but after his dramatic Subway weight loss he developed a compulsive hypersexuality disorder. The judge, however, wasn’t buying that bull crap and sentenced him to 15.6 years in prison – more than the proposed plea deal.
From TMZ:
Although the deal he struck with prosecutors was for a sentencing ranging from 5 to 12 1/2 years, Judge Tanya Walton Pratt was not bound by the deal. Nevertheless, Fogle rolled the dice this morning and formally pled guilty.
Since Fogle will be in federal prison, the standard time served is 85% … which would be just over 13 years, making him a free man in 2029. He’ll be 51 when he’s released.
When Fogle gets out, he’ll be on lifetime supervised release.
Still, it’s FEDERAL prison where he’ll be doing his time, which is basically country club living with white collar/CEO types, so I’m not sure justice is reeeeeeeeaaally being served here.
Great moment from the trial though: ” . . . Fogle cried during his statement before sentencing, saying his wife and children would never get over this.
“You gave your wife $7 million, she’ll be okay,” Judge Pratt responded.
BOOM!
